Story 1 (Bhaderwah): From Trauma to Mission

This is the first of a number of stories on unsung heroes that will be published occasionally. The writer brings through these columns the stories of the people of  Jammu.

Conflict leaves deeper scars on the intellect of young people and these scars go largely invisible in life—constantly impacting the emotional dynamics of a society. In  Jammu and Kashmir the 1980-90s generation particularly grew up under the constant impact of this conflict. It was more visible at some places than others but it was pertinently painful for everyone.

Shivalik Ed-Route

The Shivalik National Educational Route is a proposal to create a national educational eco-system in the lower Shivalik ranges of the tri-junction between Jammu, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab. An aspirational project, currently at an advocacy stage the project is envisioned as a game changer for the sustainable development of the region that also shares a common cultural identity.

The educational route targets 670,000 students in the three states in the core population group of 16-23 years. With its focus on studies of entrepreneurship, design including industrial design, social work, ecological conservation, grassroots governance & leadership, disaster management and psychosocial care, the project could be a pilot for similar tri-junctions in the Himalayas.

FAQ

We are futuristic and rationalistic. We invite you to connect with us to become a part of an expanding innovative community of knowledge entrepreneurs in India.

Learning is a life long process. We need to bring it out of the classroom rhetoric into every life situation kind of attitude. We need to incentivize innovative spirit and reflect on how to build a sense of worthiness in the community. Community appreciation is our concept of building learning ecosystems.

India was an idea based on how the world viewed us while Bharat is an idea based on how the Indians are becoming capable to view themselves–an India that’s connected with its past, rooted in its present and focused on its future.

We aren’t at present. However we are working towards it. And we are open to adventure seeking individuals who want to be a part of our process.
